Info

The Palace of Knossos is located just 5km south of the city of Heraklion, near the north coast of Crete. Built by a civilization that we call “the Minoans”, it covers about 150,000 square feet.

Knossos is the largest Bronze Age archaeological site on Crete, probably the ceremonial and political center of the Minoan civilization and culture. The Palace of Knossos is the largest and most spectacular of all the Minoan palatial centers.

Minoan history is fascinating. The numerous finds from the Palace, all of the exceptionally high quality art, pottery, vessels, figurines, the archive of Linear B tablets, and the original wall-paintings, are all housed in Heraklion Museum.
